Research Area Others
This strain is derived from GRY/Idr rat (GRY/Idr has a M251K mutation in Cacna1a gene) provided from NBRP-Rat. Double mutated rat was made by crossing GRY/Idr rat and HISS rat (HISS rat has a N1417H mutation in Scn1a gene), and then genetic background was changed from Wistar strain to F344/NSlc strain.
The homozygous rats show absence epilepsy and cerebellar ataxia. No significant physical abnormality is observed in the heterozygous rats.
Mating between heterozygous male and heterozygous female Homozygous female rats tend to neglect their pups.
