Gene Affected |
gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) A receptor, subunit beta 1 |
Origin |
Transposon "Bhr2" was inserted into intron 4 of Gabrb1 gene.
Background strain: Wistar Kyoto(NTac:WKY, Taconic Biosciences, Inc. ) |
Strain characteristics |
After mating between Gabrb1(Bhr2) heterozygous rat and Albino strain, Gabrb1 heterozygous rats show hooded phenotype.
The homozygous mutant rats show darker hair color than heterozygous rats. The homozygous mutant rats grow normally and have normal breeding performance. |
Breeding Conditions |
mating between Gabrb1(Bhr2) heterozygous rat and Wistar/Kyo rat or mating between homozygous mutant rats |
Genotyping |
After mating between Gabrb1(Bhr2) heterozygous rat and Albino strain, Gabrb1 heterozygous rats show hooded phenotype.
The homozygous mutant rats show darker hair color than heterozygous rats.
