Origin By CRISPR/Cas9 system, mutation was introduced in dystrophin (Dmd) gene of Wistar-Imamichi rat (Iar: Wistar-Imamichi, Institute for Animal Reproduction). Two exons in the rat Dmd gene was targeted; 329-bp deletion around exon 3 Exon16: 5’-GCACAt*A(AT)#GG-3’ (*：single base insertion, #： 2-bp substitution)
Strain characteristics This rat exhibits similar phenotypes to Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Skeletal muscle degeneration from 4 weeks of age, myocardial necrosis and inflammation at 13 weeks, decrease in body weight from 6 month old
