Origin By CRISPR/Cas9 system, mutation was introduced in dystrophin (Dmd) gene of Wistar-Imamichi rat (Iar: Wistar-Imamichi, Institute for Animal Reproduction): deletion of exon3 to exon16
Strain characteristics This rat exhibits similar phenotypes to Becker muscular dystrophy(BMD): focal skeletal muscle necrosis and regeneration at 8 weeks of age and muscular hypertrophy at 8 months of age in affected male rats.
Breeding Conditions mating between heterozygous female and wild-type male rats (Affected male rats are infertile.)
