Gene Affected Cblb: Casitas B-lineage lymphoma b
Origin The Cblb mutaion, one of the causative gene in type 1 diabetes of KDP/Tky and KDP alleles in other modifier genes were transferred onto the genetic background of TM:Kyo strain.
Strain characteristics Cblb homozygous rats show mild to severe insulitis. The incidence of Type 1 diabetes is 20 to 50% (The onset of Type 1 diabetes is later and the incidence is lower than those of KDP rat strain.
Breeding Conditions Maintained as segregating inbred strain (Cblb mutaion: heterozygous). Homozygous Cblb rats are infertile in both sexes.
Genotyping PCR-RFLP analysis. primes Cblb-F:5'-TGCCCCTTCTGTCGCTGTGA-3', Cblb-R:5'-CCTCGGTTTTGAATCAACAG-3', TaqI digestion.
