Gene Affected |
Slc32a1: solute carrier family 32 member 1, YFP* (Venus): yellow fluorescent protein variant |
Origin |
The original strain, W-Tg(Slc32a1-YFP*)1Yyan (NBRP No.0554 rat), was established at National Institute for Physiological Sciences in 2004, thereafter introduced to Gunma University in 2006 (Uematsu et al. Cerebral Cortex (2008). This original strain rats were was crossed with Long-Evans rat (Iar:Long-Evans) for 10 generations to establish the congenic strain. |
Strain characteristics |
Inhibitory neurons are labeled with Venus fluorescence (YFP*) under the control of mouse Slc32a1(VGAT, vesicular GABA transporter)promoter. The original strain (W-Tg(Slc32a1-YFP*)1Yyan) was crossed with Long-Evans rat (Iar:Long-Evans) for 10 generations to establish the congenic strain. |
Breeding Conditions |
mating between hemizygous Tg rat and wild-type (Long-Evans) rat |
Genotyping |
Genotyping protocol for Slc32a1-YFP*
