Gene Affected
Origin
The KOR (kappa-opioid receptor)-Venus gene was introduced into fertilized eggs of Wistar rats (Crlj:WI, Charles River Japan). They were then crossed with Wistar-Imamichi rats (Iar:Wistar-Imamichi, Institute for Animal Reproduction) to maintain the strain. Venus is expressed under the Oprk1 gene promoter.
Strain characteristics
Transgenic rats expressing the Venus under the control of the KOR promoter. This strain is heterozygous.
Breeding Conditions
Mating with Wistar-Imamichi rats. Mintained as a heterozygous.
Genotyping
Determination of Venus gene by PCR method. Primer(Forward:5’-GTTCAGCGTGTCCGGCGA-3’, Reverse: 5’-GCGGTCACGAACTCCAGC-3’, Product length: 600 bp)
