| Gene Affected |
NADPH oxidase 2 (Nox2) |
| Origin |
A 7-base deletion was introduced into the first exon of the NADPH oxidase 2 (Nox2) gene of F344/DuCrj rats by CRISPR/Cas9. They were then backcrossed to F344/N (Japan SLC, Inc.). |
| Strain characteristics |
Approximately 20% of female rats from 13 weeks of age onwards develop eosinophilia. It does not occur in male rats. |
| Breeding Conditions |
Can be maintained by sibling mating between homozygous rats. |
| Genotyping |
PCR, sequencing.
Nox2-F:5′-GGAAACAGCCTTTCAGTTGG-3′ Nox2-R:5′-TCTCTAAGTAGATGTTTGTTCACAGAG-3′ |
| References |
Cyba and Nox2 mutant rats show different incidences of eosinophilia in the genetic background- and sex-dependent manner.
