Gene Affected |
Atrn: attractin |
Origin |
Zitter rat was detected in a Sprague Dawley colony (SD) in Hannover in 1978 by Rehm. 1983 introduced to Kyoto University and established ZI/Kyo. A second zi allele carrying line with WTC backgrund was established at Kyoto University WTC.ZI-zi. |
Strain characteristics |
This strain exhibits vacuole formation of CNS and body tremor. The causative gene is Atrm (attractin). |
Breeding Conditions |
Heterozygous female and homozygous male are mated. |
Genotyping |
8 bp deletion in intron 12 of Attractin gene
Genotyping protocol for Atrn |
