Origin
This mutant rat strain was established from Lister Hooded rat embryos in which Cas9 genome editing was used to revert the G544A single base substitution in the Epb42 gene back to G. This substitution was originally identified as a difference from other strains in Lister Hooded rats exhibiting audiogenic startle epilepsy. Since phenotype analysis revealed no differences between this mutants and original Lister hooded rats, it was concluded that the amino acid mutation (substitution) in the above gene is unrelated to seizures.
Strain characteristics
No phenotypic differences are found from original Lister Hooded rats.
Breeding Conditions
Maintained by mating between homozygous males and females.
