Origin In 1977, small mutant rats were discovered in a colony of Sprague Dawley rats at Morishita Pharmaceutical Co., transferred to Japan SLC, Inc.
Strain characteristics Postnatal growth retardation. Pituitary dwarfism. Growth hormone (Gh1) deficiency caused by a nonsense point mutation in the Gh1 gene.
Breeding Conditions Sib mating. Poor breeding performance.
