Gene Affected Tscc1 (Tongue tumor susceptibility QTL 1, alias Tcas5), Tscc4 (Tcas3), Tscc2 (Tcas6)
Origin DA rats are highly susceptible to 4NQO-induced tongue carcinoma, whereas WF rats are barely susceptible (Kitano, 1992). To establish this congenic strain, QTL region Tscc1 (Tongue squamous cell carcinoma 1, alias Tcas5 RGD: 724565), Tscc4 (alias Tcas3 RGD: 631261), Tscc2 (alias Tcas6 RGD: 724567) were introgressed from WF rat to DA rat background (Tanuma, 1998; Tanuma, 2001).
