DA rats are highly susceptible to 4NQO-induced tongue carcinoma, whereas WF rats are barely susceptible (Kitano, 1992). To establish this congenic strain, QTL region Tscc1 (Tongue squamous cell carcinoma 1, alias Tcas5 RGD: 724565), Tscc4 (alias Tcas3 RGD: 631261) were introgressed from WF rat to DA rat background (Tanuma, 1998; Tanuma, 2001).
