Gene Affected
Origin Thirty per cent of the Wistar rats from the initial breeding colony in their laboratory in Strasbourg presented spontaneous spike and wave discharges (SWDs) which were bilateral and synchronous over the cerebral cortex. A strain in which all animals displayed SWDs was selected after several generations by selecting breeders with SWDs.
Strain characteristics
Breeding Conditions Good breeding performance.
