This congenic strain is homozygous for the
allele (on chr. 8) on the F344/Slc background. OLETF is a model for type 2 diabetes and some QTLs responsible for non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) including
were mapped (Kose, 2002). This congenic strain shows mild hyperglycemia in the OGTT assay. F1 progeny between this congenic strain and F344/Slc showed mild hyperglycemia, suggesting OLETF allele was dominant (Kose, 2008). (10.11.2)
