 Gene
Origin Downunder (Du) mutation is introduced into ACI/ Kyo strain.
Strain Characteristics When Downunder mutation is introduced into hooded mutation (Kit<h>) rats, melanocytes are distributed on ventral skin. ACI rats are homozygous for Irish mutation (Kit<i>) and have white spots (Irish spots) on their ventral skin. This "ACI.Cg-Du/Kyo strain does not have ventrai white spots. Du/Du homozygous rats are embyonic lethal.
 Breeding Conditions Good breeding performance.
Genotyping Causative gene is not identified
