Gene Affected
Origin Downunder (Du) mutation is introduced into ACI/ Kyo strain.
Strain characteristics When Downunder mutation is introduced into hooded mutation (Kit) rats, melanocytes are distributed on ventral skin. ACI rats are homozygous for Irish mutation (Kit) and have white spots (Irish spots) on their ventral skin. This "ACI.Cg-Du/Kyo strain does not have ventrai white spots. Du/Du homozygous rats are embyonic lethal.
Breeding Conditions Good breeding performance.
Genotyping Causative gene is not identified
