Gene Affected Atrn: attractin
Origin Zitter rat was detected in a Sprague Dawley colony (SD) in Hannover in 1978 by Rehm. 1983 introduced to Kyoto University and established ZI/Kyo. A second zi allele carrying line with WTC backgrund was established at Kyoto University WTC.ZI-zi.
Strain characteristics This strain exhibits vacuole formation of CNS and body tremor. The causative gene is Atrm (attractin).
Breeding Conditions Heterozygous female and homozygous male are mated.
Genotyping 8 bp deletion in intron 12 of Attractin gene Genotyping protocol for Atrn
