Inbred Generations   Congenic strain was establiesh using a conventional congenic strategy with more than 13 backcross generations in 2005. Since then, the strain was kept as inbred.

Origin Inbred Dark Agouti (DA) rats were originally obtained from the Zentralinstitut für Versuchstierzucht (Hannover, Germany) and Piebald Virol Glaxo(PVG) rats from Harlan UK Limited (Blackthorn, UK). Congenic strain was established by selective transferring of PVG alleles in the interval between D4Rat137 and D4Kiru157 onto DA background in minimum of 13 backcross generations.
Strain Characteristics Protection against experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) compared to the susceptible parental DA strain.
 Breeding Conditions Good breeding performance.
Genotyping Flanking markers inside the congenic fragment: D4Rat107-D4Got132.
