 Origin Spontanious mutation was found in IS/Kyo inbred (F10) at Kyoto University in 1988. Tlk(Tail anomaly Lethal Kyoto) 
 Strain Characteristics Malformations of the thoracicolumbar vertebrae leading to kyphoscoliosis with restricted spinal canals and compressed spinal cords. Mode of inheritance is unknown. 
 Breeding Conditions Short tail and normal rat are mated.
