 Origin A mutant rat showing abnormal tail was found in the G1 rats produced by ENU mutagenesis (phenotype-driven). A misssense mutation in the Tbx6 gene was identified (Abe et. al, 2015) 
 Strain Characteristics Morphological defect of tail. Body length is short. 
 Breeding Conditions Male rats show good breeding performance. Some females show poor breeding performance. Maintained in heterozygous condition by backcrossing onto F344/NSlc. 
 Genotyping Determined by phenotype.
