Gene Foxn1: forkhead box N1 ,Lyst: lysosomal trafficking regulator
Origin Three strains of rats (DA/Slc, DA-Foxn1rnu and DA/Ham-Lystbg) were selected to establish this congenic strain. DA/Ham-Lystbg strain was derived from the beige mutation found in the inbred colony of the DA/Ham at Hamamatsu University of Medicine in 1985. DA-Foxn1rnu strain was produced by cross-intercross method with five backcross generation between an athymic nude rat and the DA/Slc strain. By crossing these three strains, DA-<i>Foxn1rnu Lystbg</i> double mutant rat strain was established (Masui, 2004). (May 21, 2009)
Strain Characteristics This mutant strain is an athymic beige-nude rat and shows a bleeding tendency and impaired NK cell activity. (May 21, 2009)
Breeding Conditions Both male and female of heterozygous for <i>Foxn1rnu</i> <i>Lystbg</i> double mutant are fertile and it is also possible to cross between <i>Foxn1rnu</i>/+ and <i>Lystbg</i>/<i>Lystbg</i> rats. (May 21, 2009)
