 Gene
Origin A mutant rat was found in the course of inbreeding between a male rat (called TSR Louis) maintained by American breeders of fancy rats (Spoiled Ratten Rattery: SRR) and a PVG female. This rat showed gait abnormality in F3 and the abnormality became prominent in F5. F8 rats showed circling-like abnormality. KFRS is an abbreviation of Kyoto Fancy Rat SRR. (Jul 7, 2009)
 Strain Characteristics Circling.
Breeding Conditions Maintained by crossing of circling rats. Mutant females are fertile, but have failure of breast feeding, therefore, bad reproducibility. (Jul 7, 2009)
 Genotyping Determined by phenotype.
