Live animals, frozen ebmryos or sperm can be received at NBRP rat. Please read these instructions carefully and fill out the deposition application form on this page. After reviewing this application, we will contact you.
NOTE: If your rat strain will be preserved in our repository, we need either 10 males / 20 females of 8 week old animals, 200 2-cell embryos or in case of transgenic or congenic animals, sperm straws from 5 different donors.
Required documents can be downloaded below and have to be sent to us by airmail after we will have confirmed your application form.

Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) for Deposition : 2 copies
Genetically modified rats, (including artificially integrated foreign DNA in the host genome) require the additional submission of a separate
datasheets for genetically modified rats (Please send this by e-mail.)

AFTER you have received our confirmation, that we can accept and preserve your rat strain at NBRP rat. Further details will be send and discussed with you after we will have decided whether or not your strain can be integrated into our repository.

After receiving the MTA, we will contact you with the details on how and when to ship the animals. We will cover all shipping costs.
Frozen embryos have to be shipped in a special transportation box that can be supplied on request.
After all preparation and paper work will have been done, please ship the animals to the address below.
